This is a question for users who are still actively using very old
versions of Quicken. Are you worried about integrity of your data
file (sort of Y2K problem of different kind) as the time goes by? If
so, do you have any action-plans other than forced to upgrade to
latest version?

I am still using Quicken 98, but on Windows Vista. Started with
Quicken for DOS, but did not find any compelling reasons to upgrade to
later versions of =93bloatware=94 past Q98. Have over 15 years of data
with over 25,000 transactions in 110 accounts. I am religiously trying
out annual upgrade of every version of Quicken since 1998, but still a
hold-out.

Of late, structural integrity of old format of Quicken Data file is on
back of my mind. Apart from good number of backups and religiously
doing validates/super validates, I am totally blank.

Please no flames =96 I am just looking for some creative suggestions.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions,
Arun

Yes, I am worried (as I have found data corruption in the past).
I have found a solution. On a daily basis, I use Quicken to copy
the file (which I have found cleans up the data corruption), and
then use Quicken to rename the file. This is also how I keep 7
recent backups. On an annual basis, I do the year end stuff, so
that I have a file for each year. Each file (including current one)
has about 4 years of data in it. I rarely have a need to refer to
financial data older than 4 years ago (but when I do, I can).

I still am using Quicken for DOS. I have about 100 accounts.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FORCED UPGRADE TO THE LATEST VERSION!!!!!

There IS a forced upgrade to a NEWER version.

Go out to eBay and buy 2006 or 2007 for a fraction of the cost of
2008.
