Quicken 08: Hidden Accounts Show in Navigation Bar...? Chester 09-12-2007

I paid off a credit card and closed the account. In Money, there was an
option to specify an account as closed -- it kept the transactions in
'history', but the account didn't appear anywhere except the 'closed
accounts' view.

In Quicken 08, the equivalent appears to be the option to 'Hide in Quicken'.
The account no longer appears in the different account listing views, but it
remains (italicized) in the navigation bar. The option to 'Hide in
Navigation' is grayed out and can't be selected when the 'Hide in Quicken'
is checked. If I uncheck that, then I can 'Hide in Navigation', but then
the account shows up in the account listings.

Any way to remove it from navigation and the different account views?

Never mind -- after closing and re-opening Quicken, the account no longer
appeared in the navigation bar :)

Yep. That close-reopen dance with the italicized "hidden" accounts has
always irritated me. I suppose Intuit thinks that if we used the hidden
account once in a session, we might use it again. But, if we've already
gone through the steps necessary to re-hide it, then they should do what we
say and actually re-hide it.
