Is there an issue with Quicken and the size of the QDF file?
Mine is 13MB and it is no longer stable as it has been since 2002.
I have apparox 10 years of information in that one file.
I have validated & super validated the problem file with zero issues
found.
Since it started to fail I have taken a backup copy and by using Year
end tools have reduced the size of my active QDF and it appears to be
stable again. As I add data and the QDF file gets to 13,250KB it
starts failing again, hence my assumption the size of the file is the
problem.
The error message I get is "an error occurred during the last task.
Please restart quicken"
>From that point forward quicken doenst open that data file properly
Help!

The best I can say is that I don't think it's the size of the file. I used Q2002
prior to converting to Q05, and I believe my files were bigger than 13mb.
However, I can't be certain.

As stated, I've since upgraded to Q2005, and now have files over 20mb without
problems.

My best advice would be that, for this and other reason, you might want to
upgrade.

Thanks Fred,
That might be the solution, it doesn't identify why I am having this
problem with what has been a great program for me and I shudder to
think that I upgrade and have the same problem with the newer software.
I thought the file size was not unreasonable, but the problem seems to
happen at approx the same point as I try various things to resolve the
problem.
I read somewhere that there was a 10 year barrier on quotes and I am at
that point; but this is hard to believe too.
Still baffled I am
