I have the latest 2006 Quicken and an American Express account.

When I download the latest transactions they are in a .qfx format yet when I
open the file it sees my Asset account, but not Expense accounts like AMEX.

I do not know now how to IMPORT the data and appreciate help.

I never had problems with the earlier file format, which Quicken now does
not recognize, at least not for AMEX.

I am not sure why you would suddenly have a problem if the Amex
download had been working correctly in the past. What "earlier
file format"?

In any event, when Quicken thinks it is seeing the first
download for a Web Connect account, it will only allow you to
specify that the download is for an account that is not already
Activated for Transaction Download. So Deactivate your Amex
account and try the download (or import) again.

Thank you. The earlier format was .quif. (spelling ?)
I followed your advice and it now works fine.
