Well.. it seemed like a great idea! I bought the new Quickern Home and
Business 2007 to install over my perfectly working 2006 Quicken H&B.
Wow what a mistake. Hoping someone can help. I am running winxp Pro
sp2 updated. all recent updates.

As mentioned Quicken 2006 H&B has been running perfect. When I tried
to install 2007 it informed me it needed to uninstall 2006 so allowed
it to do so.. everything seemed ok but at the last couple blocks on
the install progress bar it stopped... I waited giving it plenty of
time.. no go.. install just stopped. Now I have tried to uninstall
reinstall even gop back to my 2006 cd and now it stalls .. Help.. I
need one of them to reload.

In playng around I see a file called bindcontent.exe is runnign when I
kill this file in the task manager the quicken install or uninstall
seems to complete its job only to find when I try to run quicken it
says my files are damaged.. and need to reinstall then we go thru the
same problem..

Any ideas? What dos this bindcontent.exe file do? Might not be related
to anything just I can get the quicken install to act like it installs
but obviously it has not ..

I even dropped back to IE6 to make sure IE7 was not the problem. Have
also tried to install in safe mode but it will not even try there..
comletely removed the dicrectory etc.. cleaned old files out, used the
clean up that is on the CD nothing seems to help if locks right at the
last couple blocks.. I do have and am logged in as administrator...

Any ideas?? Thanks

What if I can't uninstall Quicken?=20

Answer
If you are not able to uninstall Quicken, you can use the QcleanUI tool =
to remove the
Quicken program from your computer. QcleanUI will remove the Quicken =
program files and
Windows registry entries for Quicken.
Your Quicken data file will not be removed. If you are concerned about =
your data, create a
backup file before proceeding.
1. Exit Quicken if it is running.
2. Uninstall Quicken from the Windows Control Panel. Note: It is =
important to attempt to
uninstall via the Windows Control Panel before using QcleanUI to =
uninstall Quicken.
3. Click the QcleanUI.exe link below and save the file to a folder on =
your computer.
4. Click the MSIzap.exe link below and save the file to the same folder =
used in step 2.
5. Double click the QcleanUI.exe file on your computer to run it.
6. Choose the version you want to uninstall from the drop down menu. If =
you do not know
which version you need to uninstall, click Clean all versions to select =
it.
7. Click Clean.
8. Click Quit. The Quit button will not be active until QcleanUI has =
completed removing
Quicken from your computer. The removal process may take several =
minutes.
If QcleanUI does not remove Quicken, try the Windows Installer Clean Up =
Utility available
on the Microsoft support site.

Hi, Jim.

Hey, I think those QCleanUI and MSIzap programs are just what I needed
earlier today! Do you still have the URL to that Quicken Support page?

I might still need them in a few days when I try again to update my Q2007
Basic to R3 on Vista x64. It appears that Intuit does not yet understand
64-bit, so the update fails. After the failure, I was caught in a box that
I could not escape without major surgery to my Registry and my Users
folders. After uninstalling Q07, every time I tried to reinstall it, I got
either the senseless error that "The directory name is invalid", or the
DemoShield installation would barely start, then simply disappear.

If you are interested, the thread was started by me on 1/5/07, Subject:
Quicken 2007 Revision 3 is ready - but won't install for me.

What if I can't uninstall Quicken?

Answer
If you are not able to uninstall Quicken, you can use the QcleanUI tool to
remove the
Quicken program from your computer. QcleanUI will remove the Quicken program
files and
Windows registry entries for Quicken.
Your Quicken data file will not be removed. If you are concerned about your
data, create a
backup file before proceeding.
1. Exit Quicken if it is running.
2. Uninstall Quicken from the Windows Control Panel. Note: It is important
to attempt to
uninstall via the Windows Control Panel before using QcleanUI to uninstall
Quicken.
3. Click the QcleanUI.exe link below and save the file to a folder on your
computer.
4. Click the MSIzap.exe link below and save the file to the same folder used
in step 2.
5. Double click the QcleanUI.exe file on your computer to run it.
6. Choose the version you want to uninstall from the drop down menu. If you
do not know
which version you need to uninstall, click Clean all versions to select it.
7. Click Clean.
8. Click Quit. The Quit button will not be active until QcleanUI has
completed removing
Quicken from your computer. The removal process may take several minutes.
If QcleanUI does not remove Quicken, try the Windows Installer Clean Up
Utility available
on the Microsoft support site.
