For those who are running the public Win 7 beta: When using QD 2008, if the
desktop background is configured for multiple images (slideshow), everytime
the desktop images changes, the focus in QD 2008 jumps to the date field and
selects the date. This is problematic because it means that when one is
entering data, at the image change, whatever you are typing in whatever
field is interrupted and suddenly, you are in the highlighted date field,
which is erased and emptied because you are still typing.

This happens even when the QD 2008 window is not active (although the date
is not erased, but rather highlighted when one returns to QD).

Another related oddity:
With the Quicken window opened & visible, if you attempt to change the theme
to one with a multiple image background, QD 2008 goes crazy in the
background, with multiple fields getting the focus. Sort of a flashing show,
with the focus jumping around between fields and tabs. This lasts for a few
seconds.

Can anyone relate?

Thanks!

Juva

Are you a paid Beta tester for Microsoft putting production applications on a
Beta OS ?

You can NOT expect Q'08 to work properly on that Beta OS.

No, but I have been an OS beta tester since the mid 90s, which does indeed
invlove installing "production apps on a Beta OS". Are you a paid for
policing NG content?

Your posting history doesn't indicate that you are generally antagonistic,
so I assume I caught you having a bad day? Your response is inappropriate to
the context. If you re-read, perhaps you'll recognize that the tone of the
post was not one of complaint, but rather informational, nor was there any
hint of expectation of resolution. Is it your contention that sharing
information is a bad thing?

I don't believe that people should be conned into being non-paid Beta testers
for
Microsooft. Those that do decide to install a Beta OS should not be asking why
specific
applications fail or indicating what problems occur under said Beta OS in public
news
groups. That should be done in a Win7 Beta specific forum or news group.

The OS is in Beta. Quicken NEVER had a chance to test Q'08 under it and the
likelihood of
failures or problems are extremly high. So high that one should have no
expectation that
a production application will work properly under it. Indeed, you are talking
about Q'08
under Win7 when Q'09 has been released. Therefore there is no need to share
information.
One can presume problems.

I have no doubt that Quicken will have a chance to make sure a future version
(and they
put a new one yearly) will be Win7 compliant. I strongly suggest you wait until
such time
and date and for that relevant version.

Today, I did a clean install of Windows 7 and then installed Quicken
2009. It imported my bank data but gave me OB? errors. I tried to backup
my data files to a flash drive but got out of error messages (there was
plenty available). From the Quicken shortcut I went to compatibility and
checked run as XP SP3 and run as administrator and all the errors went
away. It now works like a charm.

Personally, I don't mind being a MS beta tester and was a Quicken beta
tester for several years. I also keep several backups of my data files
"just in case." :)

Later,
Dave
