Does 7-zip use a proprietary zip algorithm? What I mean if I zip
something with 7-zip and send it to someone else who only has Winzip can
they unzip it or will they need to also have 7-zip?

I should have better asked: can Windows XP open it natively like it can
open "standard" zip files?
