I live in the uk and use Quicken 2002 Deluxe, but Intuit no longer sells
Quicken in the uk.

If I buy the us version of Quicken 2008 Home & Business, will it be able to
convert my old European version files?

No.

I suggest you become an expert in the export/import of qif
files.

Search this newsgroup, and the Quicken forums.

So what your basically saying is don't use covert, but use export qif:
Transactions
Memorize Transactions
Business List
Account list
Special Handling for Transfers ( whatever that means)
Category Lists
Security Lists

and then import these all in to the new version 2008.
If I do this I keep all my existing data, but if I use covert it will fall
over and not work.

Many users have reported, and Intiut has confirmed, that it is
not possible to convert from one country version to another.

If you use the QIF file export/import approach, you will NOT
keep ALL your data: you will keep only that data which QIF files
can contain.

A question:

I've tried that importing using the QIF file, and it works, except for the
fact that the dates are all set to today's date. Not very useful. Is this
by design or am I missing something?
