Hi Everyone,

I was a Money user before and want to see if I can do this in quicken with
the quicken bill pay service. In Money in its Bill and Deposit Screen
(Equivalent to Quickens Income and Bill reminder section I think) when
setting up my bills I could select electronic payment as the method. When I
wanted to send a bill payment in I could select it from the list and money
had a button (Pay Online) I could click and the bill would be placed in an
area called Electronic Payment (I think this must be quicken Online Center
equivalent). I could then select it and click a send button that was
available in that screen. It would then send and also be enter into the
appropriate register. Is quickens method similar?

In Quicken (bill and reminder list) I chose Quicken Bill Pay as the method
and then filled out all the information in the payee dialog box it brought
up (address, account number etc.) I chose to be reminded three days before
the bill was due. When I get that reminder at the bottom of the register and
click to enter it- will the transaction be entered into my register and also
be listed in the appropriate area of the online center - ready to be sent? I
called the quicken bill pay service and tried to get the answer to this.
They were really nice, but said I could probably get a better answer from
the program support. They said they usually tell everyone to use the online
center to enter and send bills, but what I described above is really they
way I want to do it, so thought I'd ask here. Sorry for the long post, and
thanks for your help.

Yes, it will work basically as you want. When you "Enter" the scheduled
online billpay transaction, it will appear in your account register with a
Num value of "Send", and the next time you do a One Step Update, the
payment instruction will be sent to the billpayer.

[I don't recall if the transaction would also be listed in the Online
Center.]

John answered your question but
to reassure you I have been using Quicken Bill pay for many years (more
the 15 years) and have not had any problems and in fact when I had a few
(very few < 5) problems with a payment (usually just miss-placed payment
by the vendor) that was handled via Quicken bill pay I just had to call
the service line and it was quickly resolved.

Thanks you John and Marty. Glad to hear it gonna work the way I like. Have
heard good things about the bill pay service and think I'm going to be happy
with it. The more I work with Quicken the more I like it. Thanks again to
both of you.
