Quicken XG 2005 won't backup? Noozer 09-01-2007

I've opened my Quicken XG 2005 data file(s) and tried to do a backup via
File->Backup. The backup tries to occur, but then I'm told tha the file was
NOT backed up.

The target directory exists, and I end up with a 7meg QDF file and a 131kb
QEL file in that directory.

Using File->File Operation->Validate I find no errors in the Quicken file.

Is there a log file that will tell me why the backup failed? Is there
anything else I can do to try and make this work?

Most of the means to address backup problems are old; they've
been reported here and in the Intuit Forums; I doubt I can offer
any additional info.

To my knowledge, there is no log file that would offer any
insights.

Since Q2005 is an old product, and since I don't recall you
posting this problem before, and since you don't say you've had
the problem before; it seems you must have been able to backup
successfully for some time.

What changed since your last successful backup? File name?
Folder name (of your file or your backup file)? Operating
system? Other?

Is the target drive full (or nearly so)?

Nope... Also tried to backup to multiple locations without any luck.

I'm going to have to dig a bit deeper... FYI I've only searched at Intuit's
Canadian website. I just assumed that they'd share the same database, but it
looks like it doesn't.

Yes... It would prompt to do a backup every third close of the program. Then
one day it just started complaining that it could not do the backup.

The only thing that I can think of, and I'm fairly certain that I've was
able to backup after this, was that we renamed the QDF file from
"Q_FILE.QDF" to "Quicken 2007.QDF"
