Hi,
I have a credit card which my wife have a second card (on the same account)
when I download the transactions I think I can tell which purchase are hers
and which are mine. My questions are, is there a way to have separate are
purchases? meaning whatever I buy I have in my account and whatever she
bought I'll track in her account -- not using manual transactions entries.

let me know,
thanks

I think you want to learn about classes. They're different from
subcategories. For instance:
auto:fuel/Jim vs auto:fuel/Jill

Auto is the category, and fuel is the subcategory (of auto, nothing else -
if you have heating:fuel that's a different category subcategory set).

Jim and Jill are the classes and can be used almost everywhere to separate
who the category refers to.

See help - working with classes.

You can use "classes" (see the help file) to separate out the purchases, but
you'll have
to manually identify which transaction goes to which class. There's no way for
Quicken
to automatically assign transactions to one class or another when they're
downloaded from
the same CC account.

I haven't used classes in quicken, but what if he & 'Jill" & 'Jim' were to
buy their fuel at different gas stations (i.e., 'Jim' buys @ chevron, 'Jill'
buys @ shell)? Would memorized transactions fill in the class field
appropriately? However, it may just be simpler to apply for a different card
for 'Jill' and eliminate the confusion (that's how I handle it here...).

Yes, if Jim buys at Chevron, and Jill buys at Shell, memorized transactions will
fill in the class. The only time you would have to fill in (or change) the class
is if both Jim and Jill buy at the same store.
