Hi, Bob.

I've not heard any rumors, but the new version usually appears in about
August.

Seems to be running late this year. beta trials run in August so my
guess is late September or October

Since the last two years have had little meaningful improvements, what's the
point? I'm thinking that Q is a mature, annuity-stream driven product - esp
with MM out of the picture. I do hope there will be functional enhancements
(I wish they'd get CDs right!), but I doubt it.

How can they produce income w/o new products?

MSFT decided the annual improvements were so trivial that there was no
reason to release a new version every year so... people stopped buying
every year and the product was discontinued as unprofitable. Intuit
can't make the same mistake, they will continue to release new products
and continue to force obsolescense of older products, it's necessary to
the company's survival.

There will be, there always are. For several versions the improvements
(or deprovements!) have had little or no effect on me but they probably
do for some?
