This is my first time at this site and I hope I am doing things correctly.
I arrived here through a desperate search on Google.

I have been using Quicken premiere 2009 for some time now without any
difficulties. But lately, I have been unable to start it.I get the
following message: "There is a problem with your Quicken installation.
Your data has not been affected by this problem. Please uninstall Quicken
and install again."

I have uninstalled and reinstalled it 4 times now and updated it each
time. After reinstalling, it works fine for a few times and then the same
thing happens all over again.

I am running Windows XP home edition on a generic computer with 4 hard
drives, Pentium, and lots of memory.

I have noticed an error when booting: I momentarily see a message stating
"invalid boot.ini file" and then it proceeds to boot normally. I don't
know if that has anything to do with the Quicken problem.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. My experience in the
past in solving problems by contacting the manufacturer has always been a
waste of time.

Thanks,

Robert Cheney

Neither do I. But it sounds like it could.

Have you tried what Microsoft suggests for an "invalid boot.ini file"?

Hi, Robert.

Welcome! But this is not "a site". You've found your way into the Quicken
newsgroup on Usenet. ;<)

This newsgroup is best accessed by a newsreader, such as Outlook Express,
which is built into every copy of Windows XP, including the Home Edition.
Many ISPs include Usenet access in their monthly subscription, but I don't
know if BellSouth does. There are plenty of free news servers available;
just Google (or Bing) for "free news servers" and you should find thousands.

As you will see, this is a fairly active newsgroup and many of your peers
are eager to help a fellow Quicken user figure out how to get this program
to do what you need it to do.
