I updated to Quicken 2009 and to my surprise it would not read or convert
my 2007 and earlier .qrp files. This was confirmed in a chat with Quicken
Support. Did they tell me right? I was so pissed that I wrote a letter
to, Brad Smith, the CEO of Quicken, hoping that they would fix the
problem. Here is the text of my letter:

"I am sitting down in front of my computer today starting my 2008 taxes.
I am using Quicken Rental Property Manager, version 2.5, an older version.

I expected to be using Quicken Rental Property Manager 2009. I purchased
the newer version towards the end of last year. During installation, the
new version uninstalled my previous version. Imagine my surprise when I
could no longer access my 2007 Quicken tax files!

I chatted on-line with your personal several times in October 2008.
After about two hours of chatting and attempting conversions, we
determined that there was no way to convert my old files to the 2009
version of rental property manager. Your representatives told me that
this was inherent in the 2009 version and could not be overcome. So
Quicken Rental Property Manager 2009 was worthless to me! I requested and
received a refund. I reinstalled the older version.

Mulling all this over, I felt that the top executives at Intuit should
know about this product failure.

I have no interest in connecting with my bank accounts, which appears to
be what Quicken Rental Property Manager 2009 does well. I simply want to
enter the rents received and the expenses for my rentals and print out a
tax report for my accountant. It seems to me this is one basic thing that
rental property manager should do and should do well, but it also has to
access my previous year's records."
