"Return numbers" are not downloaded. Prices are downloaded and then your
investment return is calculated by Quicken.
If your return data is messed up, it means you have erroneous prices in your
price history. Downloading historical quotes should correct this problem.
However, not all versions of Quicken, nor all investments support downloading
historical quotes. What version of Quicken are you using? What is an example of
an investment you want historical quotes for (eg, stock symbol)?
The other way to fix the problem is manually. Go to the price history for your
investment and peruse the data. You will likely find a price which is out of
whack. Simply delete it (or enter the correct price if you know it). Repeat for
other out of whack prices and this should fix the problem.
