So let's examine the current situation:
1) You acknowledge that you don't understand how sync works, but
2) You reject out of hand, without even trying (an effort that would
take -- maybe -- 1 minute) a solution offered by one of the most
experience Q users on this board.

Question: WHY should anyone else even attempt to assist you on this,
or any other, matter?

Andrew, you spent WAY too much time addressing only half of what your
comment about being "silly" referred to.

Exiting Quicken (and, I assumed you knew ... restarting Quicken) takes a
very short time, and is sometimes required to cause changes to take
effect.

Restarting Quicken may not be required after changing your default email
client, but it's inexpensive to try.

Benefits from reboots may be much rarer ... but if I wanted something to
work, none of the reasons in your lengthy reply would prevent me from, at
some point, trying a reboot.

Your comment could not have been interpreted by anyone as being limited to
rebooting Windows.

We're not able, nor should we be expected, to read your mind: if you
wanted to address only the issue of rebooting ... why not just say so?

And, as I said: it's also not "silly" to consider rebooting: some changes
require rebooting.

If you couldn't get something working, and you refused to try the thing
that would make it work (long shot though it may be) ... who would care?
I don't have any horse in this race.

Maybe what's silly is not to try something so simple and cost free as a
reboot. And in the case of Syncing to Outlook - which you obviously could
care less about - there would be no reason to reboot in the middle of your
important work ... you could start the reboot when you were through for
the day. Clearly you're not having trouble sleeping at night because you
can't Sync to Outlook.

Has anyone, EVER, at ANYTIME, seen DeFool actually offer to assist
someone else? Even such minimal assistance as asking for
clarification of an OP's situation?

All that I can recall seeing is his requests for assistance (yet he
has claimed to be the "unofficial representative of Quicken") followed
by his berating anyone who answers. Alternatively, he chimes in and
berates anyone how has offered assistance to another.

He takes, and never gives, and he flames those who attempt to assist
others.

Is there anyone to banish him?
