"Sears" called me to verify the dubious US$ several thou transactions
suddenly appearing. I denied of course making them, stating that I had not
used the card other than for a $12 purchase a week or two prior. Card and
account were instantly cancelled by them and me respectively.
On other occasions I have received calls regarding dubious charges, both
real and imagined. I have indeed used the same technique (re-
characterizing the existing CC account with a new number) as you guys did.
