If none of the other suggestions work:
1) Does anybody know how many old files that list shows? In my Q06 Basic it
only shows three. I don't know how big that list will grow to, however.
2) I looked for something similar to the way Word does this. In Word you can
turn off the recent files listing. So, if you wanted to keep the
functionality but just didn't want those particular files to show up, you
could turn it off and then turn it back on, which resets the list and only
shows the files you've opened since then. I can't find a similar option in
my version of Quicken. It could be somewhere, but it's just not placed
anywhere where it can be found intuitively.
3) If you desperately need to get rid of the references to those files, you
could conceivably make copies of your current file. Give them a name that
really really flags it to your attention, such as DUMMY1.QDF, DUMMY2.QDF,
etc. Then open those files one by one until finally they've knocked the
other files off the recent-files list. But, as I noted in #1 above, this
depends on how many recent files Quicken will list. You may have to create
10 dummy files to get rid of the ones you don't want on the list. This is
basically a brute-force option, not very elegant. But if you really need to
get those files off your recent files list and none of the other suggestions

get those files off your recent files list and none of the other suggestions
people have floated here does the trick, that's one way I can think of to do
it. (Also, I guess reinstalling would do the same thing.)
