How do you set a goal on a Mutual Fund?
I created a new Mutual Fund in Quicken 6 (Premium). It has no Goal. I
can't seem to find it.
The Help is useless.

"Edit" the security in the Security List; click "Other info".

[You can create your own goals; Investing > Investing Goal
List.]

> The Help is useless.

In Help

On the Search tab, enter "investing goal".

The first topic in the resulting list is "Monitoring portfolio
performance". The last item in that list is "Working with
investing goals". Expanding that subject displays a link to
"Identify investing goals", which has a "Note: To assign a goal
to a security, edit the security", where "edit the security" is
a link which contains the name of the choices on the Edit
security dialog, the last of which is "Other Info" which expands
to show investing goal.

The third topic in the "investing goal" topic list is: "Work
with investing goals". Clicking that produces a screen that has
a Note saying "To assign a goal to a security, edit the
security" (this page is the same as the one mentioned in the
previous paragraph).

If you have selected a security in the Security List, and
clicked Edit; there is a Help button. Clicking that lists all
the fields/buttons in the Edit security dialog, the last of
which is "Other Info", which also has a Note with a link
explaining how to set the investing goal for a security.

Occasionally mere curiosity alone will help, as that "Other
Info" button in the Edit security dialog, just sits there
waiting to be clicked.

That worked. Thanks so much. What a hidden feature.
Thanks again

The information was just great. I would like to set an individual % goal.
For example, 10% growth, etc. These are all for mutual funds. It looks like
only generic goal setting is available (growth, income, etc.). Any way to do
this?

I'm not sure I understand what you want.

You can create your own goals and name them anything you like,
and assign them to any security you wish.

But as far as I know, Quicken will not do anything with those
goals, except allow you to select on and/or group your
securities by, those goals when you ask it to ... in reports and
on the Portfolio tab. Quicken doesn't compare any underlying
data that would tell you whether you achieved a goal or not
(they're not like Asset Allocation, where you set targets and
Quicken tells you how you stand in relation to those targets).
A given security can have only one goal, and 100% of its
activity/value are always assigned to that goal. It seems to be
a characteristic of a security much as Security Type (stock,
bond, mutual fund, etc.) is.
