Slightly (but only slightly!) OT: Alternative News Providers to Q? Andrew 12-31-2007

So it seems (at least, I haven't seen progress made in months) that the
ability to have corporate news items returned on OSU to view in PORTFOLIO
view isn't forthcoming to Q. Does anyone have a pointer to a website as an
alternative? It would be one that allows a simple registration of
corporations (by symbol) that you are interested in to be able to, in a
single click or view, see many relevant headlines for these corporations in
one view. This would be as opposed to having to click on individual
symbols. In other words, a functional replacement of what Q used to do.

I miss this ability in Q and will check with them again as to when (if?)
they ever expect to be able to re-provide this needed (for me) function.

Happy New Year all!

Yahoo and Excite to name two. You need to register then set up
preferences for stock symbols, you get both quotes and company news.
Been doing this on both for many
years...... well not too many, these are internet many years :-)

Thanks Marty - I do hear Yahoo finance is one of the better financial sites
in general. I'll give it a try.

Marty's suggestion is a good one, Yahoo has a number of nice info
facilities. To save time, I set up a "Stocks" folder in
Start|Favorites and filled it with shortcuts to the stocks I'm
interested in. For instance, create a shortcut named Terex Corp and
fill it with http://finance.yahoo.com/q/h?s=tex . This will take you
directly to the Yahoo Headlines page for Terex bypassing all the Yahoo
signon folderol. Replace the three letter 'tex' with the 2,3 or 4
letter symbol for exchange listed stocks. For Bulletin Board or Pink
Sheet stocks use (symbol).ob or .pk instead ( spkl.ob ). Personally,
I prefer going first to the 5 day charts (15 minute delay) such as
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=ibm&t=5d&c= or
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=spkl.ob&t=5d&c= and then occasionally
going to the other functions headlines or company events etc.
