I had a friend who used to use an external encryption file on his data.
He decrypted it before starting Quicken. The same script encrypted the
files, and backed them up after Quicken ended. He didn't want the
unencrypted backup files anywhere on his computer.
I don't do this, but I can see where someone would not want all of their
financial data in files that they did not specifically create.
