I'm still on Q2005 and the download quotes seems to have stopped producing
data, although there has been no error message. Could be a server issue,
but I'm wondering: Does the service simply stop when your privilege has
expired? Or is there a message? Thx,

It's still supposed to be working for Q2005, but the servers are
apparently often screwed up.
I find that if I'm in the "Portfolio" view and hit the "Download quotes"
button enough times, the numbers will eventually come through.
I have to use the "Update" button on the main toolbar to download stuff
from Fidelity, and that usually works even when the stock quotes don't.

But not for long.
Waiting for me in the mail this evening was a QW2008 CD from Intuit with
the note
"As of April 30, 2008, Online Services and live technical support for
Quicken 2005 products will no longer be available."
They offer to sell me QW2008 Deluxe for $40, but Office Depot/Max
(forget which) is currently selling TurboTax Deluxe + QW2008 Deluxe with
a $60 mail-in rebate, so the net price of the two is only $45.
Best Buy is offering the combo for $60, but without needing any rebates.

Heh, thanks, yep, just got a similar letter today. Same expiration date,
April 30, for quotes download. A discount coupon was included (for 2008
Premier), so I went to Amazon to compare prices. Found immediately an
avalanche of negative user experiences. Uh oh. Gotta do some heavy
research now. Starting with more careful perusal of this list. -Ron

I noticed that too, although it looks there's been a raft of updates to
QW2008 already and the gnashing of teeh seems to have settled down,
but that might just mean that people have gone away mad.
Still, the idea of switching to MS Money gives me the creeps.
