The meaning of the "c" in investment transaction line. wawiddi 06-10-2006

Have spent 3 hours trying to find the answer to what I expect is a very
simple question.
Also have not been able to find a topic related to it, so started this
one. At the far left of an investment transaction line, such as income
or dividend additions, buys or sells, etc. just to the left of the date
I see a small box that sometimes has a "c" over it. When I click on
this "c" I get a box that also includes an "R". I'm sure I will be
embarrassed when I get the answer, but will really appreciate an
answer. What is it, and what does it mean, and how can I use it?
Thanks for help.
Don

The "c" = cleared; the "R" = reconciled; space = not cleared.
Same meanings as in the "Clr" column in non-investment accounts.

Just a sidelight --
You can't change that code in a cash account if it's a transfer from
the investment account. You get a message that you have to change it
in the investment account, but there's no such field in the
transaction there! Then you can't close the item in the cash account.
I consider that a bug.

It might be, but it's hard to tell because you didn't supply
your Quicken version/year nor what investment account type or
investment transaction type you are referring to.

I tested in Q2005 Deluxe R3 and Q2006 Premier R3 with both a
"Cash Transferred Out Of Account" and "Withdraw" from a
"Brokerage" account; I had no trouble modifying the "Clr" field
in the resulting transactions in a checking, savings, or cash
account.

Sorry - I use Quicken premier 2006 R4, but it has always been so in
06P. The transactions are downloaded into an investment account and
are classified as BuyX, SellX, DivX, etc. In all thes cases the
transaction originates in the investment account. I'm still mad about
the change they made in the transaction register, I think it's the
pits. JMO.
