First a data point:
I was at 2 BJs yesterday; One had only TT Deluxe Federal (no State) for $35.
Another also had TT Premier Fed + State for $60. Neither had the Deluxe with
Fed + State. The boxes claim that you can get a discount on Quicken 2008, but
you need to consult the Quicken box, which BJs doesn't seem to sell.
Observation: Neither has efiling included. I don't remember last year, but
it seems that the days of free efiling is over, and the cost is going up $17.95
For that price I'll print a return and mail it. I usually owe anyways. To bad
the 1040PC is gone.
Now, the Premier version claims that it has features that help if you:
- Sold stocks or ESPP shares
- Own rental property.
I've used TT Deluxe the last severar years. Yes it isn't as friendly for
processing ESPP as it could be, but if you know what you're doing you can get
by.
My wife (filing separately) has rental property. We have the places setup in
the program and keep importing the prior years data and tweak the number to
match the current year.
Is there anything the Premier really adds for rental owners?? It may be a
first timer feature?
Thanks,
Dave.
