Not sure if there is a dedicated TT newsgroup...
but FYI -
Just picked up my yearly TurboTax
and tried to install on my trusty Win98se desktop machine.
TurboTax comes up with a error msg,
and basically says it will not install in Win98 machines
because Microsoft no longer supports that operating system.
Looks like I'll have to install on one of our XP/pro laptops.

---
TurboTax 2006 cannot be used on computers running the Windows 98, Windows 98
Second Edition, Windows Me (Edition), or earlier versions.
This is in alignment with Microsoft’s plans to end support for Windows 98, 98SE
and Me as of July 11, 2006.

We recommend that you upgrade your operating system, or install TurboTax on a
different computer that uses an operating system TurboTax supports, such as
Windows 2000, Windows XP Home/Media Edition/Pro, or Vista Home Basic/Home
Premium/Ultimate/Business.

You may also use any of TurboTax’s Online products available at
www.turbotax.com.

If none of these options meet your needs, you may take advantage of our 60 Day
Money Back Guarantee by visiting http://support.turbotax.com/go/return
or send your TurboTax product plus all packaging with a copy of your receipt via
a traceable mailing method to:

I switched to TaxCut this year because of this OS requirement. TaxCut runs
on Windows ME. They have a FREE Taxcut Basic download that looks like it
does exactly what TurboTax Basic does.
