You may be right as the Quicken 99 version that I use was a Canadian
Version not a UK version. Converting GBP(£) accounts from this
version to Quicken 2007 was no problem.

Yes, Quicken 2007. I have no idea why the conversion process from the
Quicken 9 files to the 2007 format hung every time I tried it in
'normal' mode (WINXP Pro) but it completed without problems when I ran
it in 'safe mode'.
