I have been unsuccessful in uninstalling Quicken Deluxe 2007 on my old
laptop which I plan to give to a friend. When trying to remove Quicken using
Add/Remove in Control Panel, I get the following message: "Error
1327.Invalid Drive:E:"

I don't have a Drive E: on my laptop--only a Drive C:

Any suggestions/help appreciated.

Install Quicken again, then do the uninstall.

BTW, Removing the program will not remove any of the personal data you have
on the laptop.

I tried to reinstall Quicken with the original disk and I get the same error
message: "Error 1327.Invalid Drive:E:"

Thanks for the reminder; I deleted my personal Qdata files.

Hi, Don.

1. You don't need to "uninstall" Quicken. Just delete the folder where it
is stored. If you can't find it, don't worry about it.

2. If your friend is very computer-savvy at all, he may be able to
resurrect your data files. ALL of them! Not just your QDATA files.

3. At least reformat the hard drive before you give it away. Depending on
your friend's knowledge and resources and honesty, that will probably be
safe enough.

Please don't uninstall it, there will still be information left behind.

To avoid future problems, use the restore option of the laptop to put
it back to it's original condition. If you don't have the restore
disks you can obtain them from the manufacturer's website in most cases
or, at the very least, format the harddrive to remove everything.

BTW, to comply with EULAs you'll need to give your friend copies of all
software installed on the laptop AND copies of all software used as
qualifying products for upgrade installations. It's MUCH easier to use
the restore option.
