Upgrade from Quicken 4? Peter Bogiatzidis 05-02-2006

Hello,

I'm looking for some advice on an upgrade path from Quicken 4 to a more
current version.

Yes, I know that the version that I'm using is very old, but the old cliché
of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies here. The reason for upgrading
now is because I'm planning on replacing the current PC.

I know that in some cases, new PCs come with versions of Quicken that are
only for "New users", which as I understand it, means that I can't import
any prior data. Is that true?

Also, with some software, if you didn't continually "upgrade" over the
years, you can't easily upgrade to the latest version, due to data
incompatibility. In other words, a Quicken 4 data file may not be able to be
converted for current use, whereas, a Quicken 2001 or more recent data file
might.

Thanks in advance to those who post a reply to the group.

Peter.

Quicken "New User" versions will not "convert" data from
previous versions; I believe you could still "import" data using
QIF files ... to the extent you took into account the
restrictions placed on QIF file import starting with Q2005.
