When I imported my credit card transactions, most of the charges were
assigned a reasonable catagory but in the 'income' type. Is there any way to
control the type parameter while inporting? Is there any way to make a bulk
correction of the incorrect type information?

Not exactly; but all you need to do is to have the correct
category assigned ... when it's the "correct" category, it will
be of the right "type".

Use "Memorized Payees" (transactions) and make sure QuickFill is
turned on, then Quicken will assign the correct category when
your downloaded payee matches a memorized payee. (And in Q2005
and newer, you can have Quicken "rename" downloaded" payees so
their names will match your memorized payees.)

Edit > Find & Replace > Find/Replace

Find the wrong records, then replace their category with the
correct category.
