I worked on a friend's data file and e-mailed the qdf, qph, idx, and
qel file as attachments to him. How does he open the files in his
quicken. We both have quicken 2005 premier, and he has received the
e-mail with the four attachments.

He stores all the files in one folder, then navigates to that folder using
File>Open.

As long as you send him all the necessary files, this will work.

Just to amplify that: From the email, he doesn't want to OPEN the files, he
wants to SAVE them. All in the same folder, as the previous poster said.
From that folder, he can open the files.

A caution: Since both you and the recipient seem to be new at all this, you
need to make sure that the recipient knows how to get back to his own
working file once he's done with yours.

Sorry. Upon closer inspection I see that the files you emailed to your
friend ARE his working files.
(I assumed you wanted him to look at something in YOUR files.)

Does password protection via quicken surive email transfer?

If I have a file password protected on my Quicken and email all the
necessary files to someone else, will the file open without a password?

Just curious.
