I have Q 2006 Premier and I am having a problem with two stocks. I
sold 400 shrs of Dell some time ago and around the same time I bought
400shrs of RDY. Quicken keeps reinstating the 400 of Dell and deleting
the 400 of RDY via placeholder entries. I think I may have discovered
why this is happening: Although in the portfolio view and the edit
security view the stock symbol for dell shows up as "DELL", the Online
Center shows the ticker symbol for Dell as "RDY". Anyone know how I
can edit this symbol in the Online Center or otherwise fix this
problem?

It may be I caused this problem when I originally downloaded the
transaction from the institution and quicken asked whether or not the
new stock was the same as a previous entry an I erroneously clicked
yes...otherwise I have no idea how this happened.

Thanks!

Yup, that's how it happened.

Edit both securities in the Security List and uncheck the box
"Matched with online security". Next time you get asked about
whether the downloaded security is new or existing, make sure
you select the correct security.

John

It worked. Be assured that I will pay better attention. Obviously it
does not pay to do transactions in a post-work stupor.

Thanks a bunch.
