I've put a password on my quicken file, ie QDATA file, but I no longer
remember what it is. I can still open the file and do anything I want,
because the unforgotten password is storead in another password
management software, and it's retrieved automatically when I open
quicken. However, I am not able to see the password in the password
managemnt software. I can't change the password because quicken would
ask me for the current password.

I do not feel comfortable that I have to rely on a password management
software to open quicken, so I want to recreate the file, this time
without a password. I have lots of accounts set up in my quicken.
What's the easiest way for me to recreate the quicken file?

Thank you for your help.

Try a FILE-->FILES OPERATIONS-->COPY. I don't think you need to supply a
password on the newly created copy if you don't want to. Thus, you can then
open and use the newly created copy instead.

So what is the point of password protecting the file if anyone can
create a copy without the password?
