At least as far as TaxCut is concerned, it looks like the
cheapest is $29.95 (but, without e-filing). Cheapest
package with e-filing included is $59.95. Looks like the
prices have really increased.
I tried out the free TaxAct last year as a backup program
(didn't e-file with it). Gave me the same answers as
TaxCut. Has anybody had any issues with it, especially the
e-file?

I have used TaxAct for a number of years, not the free
version, but the reasonably priced paid version. This is
not the proper place to discuss tax software. If you join
the Yahoo Group "TaxActors" you will find a robust
discussion of the Tax Act software.

I've used TaxAct for years and e-filed with it the last two.
No problems yet.

I used the preparer's version of TaxAct last year to prepare
about 500 returns, half were E-filed with no problems.
