We had a vacation in Canada and paid a large amount of
foreign taxes on hotel and misc other items. Is this
deductable on federal taxes? If so where in the forms?

Thanks

None of the above are deductible taxes.

Only income taxes are subject to deduction or credit on your
1040 income tax return. However you may be able to get a
refund of some of the taxes you paid on your visit. See the
official information at
http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pbg/gf/gst176/README.html

Note that there are also a lot of vendors who will process
you refund application for a hefty fee.

Canada announced the elimination of the GST/HST Visitor
Rebate Program effective for purchases made after March 31,
2007.

Cheap prescription drugs are still available though.

But are the drugs cheaper than the co-pay on a prescription
drug plan?

No - but if you in the Part D gap and don't expect to get
out or you don't have Rx coverage then it is a good option.
Just make sure that the Pharmacy that you use is really a
Canadian one
