I have yet to receive my W-2. I am guessing that everything
will be the same as my December paystub. I have all of the
other pertinent information from last year's W-2.
Since I don't physically need a W-2 to e-file, can I punch
in all of the numbers from my December paystub without a W-2
and e-file? I am tempted to file early, without waiting.
I've read on this Group that W-2s are reported from my
employer to the SSA first, and then IRS gets those from SSA
some months later.
I am worried that there might be a discrepancy between the
paystub and W-2. If there were, the error would not be found
right away, but later?
How/when does IRS match and cross check e-filed W-2
information from taxpayers with W-2 information from
employers obtained from the SSA?
Thanks in advance
