My company formed a leveraged ESOP many years ago. Last year
they paid a large special dividend in addition to the
quarterly dividends. I have always assumed these dividends
were taxable. Since no taxes were withheld this had a huge
impact on my 2006 taxes. My 1099-B shows these as
non-qualified dividends. Could I have done an IRA rollover
for the dividends? I have with drawn shares when allowed
using an IRA rollover.
