Hi
I regularly deduct the home office in my home, but this year, in Aug
we bought another home that we are in the process of moving to. Home
#1 is my original home, I owned it the entire year, and have always
taken the Home office deductions.
Home # 2 was purchased in August and I have a home office there
dedicated to my business. I used it for the final 3 months of the
year.
However I occasionally used Home # 1's office over the whole year,
whenever I went back to prep the house for sale.
Both offices were used excluasively for business according to the
normal IRS tests. From Jan - August, Home # 1 was my only place of
business. From Sep - Dec Home # 2 got the bulk of the use, with
Home # 1 being used approx 20% of the time. No business was conducted
other than these 2 locations.
Can I deduct BOTH home offices in total? Or do I have to reduce each
by the amount of time actually there?
