New nat gas furnace - energy credits? Walter Cohen 03-10-2008

Hello.
I had a new natural gas furnace installed in my home last year. Am I
allowed any deduction/credit on my 2007 taxes (i.e. home energy credits
and/or form 5695) or does it "depend"?

Thanks,
Walter

If you go to IRS.gov web site and then download form 5695, you can read
up on what qualifies and what doesn't. But, unless this new furnace is
specifically mentioned as qualifying with reference to certain standards
contained in those instructions, you're out of luck.

Like my client today whose brand new heat pump didn't meet the SEER or
S.. something or other ER ratings.
