In the recent California primary and local election, the candidate
for the post of Los Angeles County Assessor, John Low Taxes Loew,
lost to the incumbent (78%-22%). John Loew had his middle name
legally changed to "Low Taxes" before the election, so that it
would appear that way on the ballot.
