My son was laid off from his regular job and started driveing a
Tractor trailer in September.... Honestly he did NOT keep very good
records of his expenses...

But I think I read that he can deduct 39 dollars a day for meals etc
when he was on the road...(per Diem allowance)

Normally he will be home on Wednesday and the weekend...so gould he
deduct 4 days worth of expenses for each week ? Any other items
that he could deduct..? like TV set, DVD, player, sheets and pillows
etc for the sleeper...? his employer pays him 45 dollars a month
towards his cell phone bill BUT that is shown directly on his pay
check as income...

OTR drivers subject to DOT rules get $52/day per his log books. He
needs to use form 2106 and include in his Sch A. Also include phone
expenses but also show his reimbursement. Other items may be included
for those items in the sleeper.
