After selling a Partnership Business on 1/24/06, how long do
we have for filing Federal & State Tax Returns? We are in
California and were on a Calendar year (January to
December). I thought we have till the 15th of the 4th month
following close of business but someone mentioned that we
have till April 15, 2007 to file for a business closed any
time during 2006.

We do have to file forms 4797 and 8594 with the final
partnership tax return as well after closing the books to
zero.
