Are there any tax breaks for NY residents who buy a brand
new home? I live in Long Island and I had my eye on this
brand new house they are building in the neighborhood and
was wondering if I can get any tax breaks if I purchased it.
For example, for installing energy efficient windows, doors,
heating equip, or using energy efficient insulation, etc.

Well, since none of the pros have answered, let me give this
a try.

While there are various credits for installing
energy-efficient windows, insulation and perhaps appliances,
such as furnaces and air conditioners, I don't think they
are any different for new homes than improvements added to
existing homes.

I haven't researched the NYS tax web site, but after filling
our my NY tax return do know there are various energy
efficiency related tax credits.
