TaxCut Question ritpg 04-19-2006

As I used TaxCut to e-file my Rhode Island tax return, I was
not given the opportunity to specify how I wanted to pay the
$110 I owe the state. Nor was there any instruction on how
to make the payment to the state when e-filing. Of course I
WAS given the opportunity to specify a credit card number to
pay for e-filing both the federal and state returns. So the
state return was electronically submitted on 2/16 and is now
pending acceptance by the state. In the meantime, as of
2/18, I have not done anything to pay the state what I owe.
When I check state return status, I am repeatedly told that
acceptance of the return by the state is pending and to keep
checking status. It also instructs me to follow the
instructions I will get when the state accepts the return.

My question is, what do I do in the meantime? Because I
e-filed, I was not provided by TaxCut the address to send
payments to. Can I send a check? Would I include a copy of
my state return or would that confuse things?

I have a TaxCut printout stating that both the federal and
state returns were electronically submitted on 4/16.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Terry

First question is why it took two months for your return to
be electronically filed even? esp since you say you
submitted it on 2/16?

As for paying, there should have been a vouche printed by
the software with the correct payee and address to which to
remit payment.

Since there was not, surf the web, look for Rhode Island
Department of Revenue, Taxation, whatever, and find their
website for the address.

Got an e-mail from TaxCut yesterday (4/18) telling me that
my tax return had been accepted by the state of RI and
providing me with instructions on how to completed the
return. I was able to print out a tax payment voucher which
I am to send (e.g., certified mail) with my check withing 3
business days. So it looks like it will turn out OK. TaxCut
could have done a better job explaining this earlier in the
process.

BTW, my dates in the original post were incorrect. My
original state return was e-filed on 4/16 (not 2/16).

I hope this helps anyone else who might have had similar
questions.

Thanks.
